Dr. Jacqueline Fahey is a licensed psychologist (PSY32173) in the state of California, with a rich background in the mental health field since 2016. She has extensive experience conducting psychological evaluations for both children and adults, assessing intellectual and cognitive functioning, personality disorders, and providing psychodiagnostic clarification to ensure accurate differential diagnoses. In addition, Dr. Fahey offers comprehensive treatment recommendations and appropriate referrals. She is currently contracted as the primary evaluating psychologist with Sutter-Yuba Behavioral Health.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Fahey is a core faculty member in the APA-accredited program at the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) at Alliant International University in Sacramento. There, she teaches doctoral students in courses such as Advanced Psychopathology, Introduction to Psychotherapy, and Advanced Ethics.
Her professional interests encompass a wide range of areas, including child, adolescent, and family therapy, trauma, crisis response and intervention, play and Sandtray therapy, ethics, health psychology, and the professional development of graduate students.
Dr. Fahey has worked across a diverse range of mental health settings, including the Sacramento County public school system, community mental health clinics, UC Davis, and the prison system. Throughout her career, she has provided exceptional therapy, case management, and psychological assessment services to a broad spectrum of individuals, including young children (ages 0-5), adolescents, adults, families, and couples. Her experience spans various populations, including inmates, Veterans, the LGBTQ+ community, and individuals from diverse ethnic, racial, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds, as well as those with differing abilities. She has also facilitated numerous mental health groups focused on topics such as anger management, healthy relationships, social skills, self-esteem, and anxiety.
Dr. Fahey is a graduate of the renound Napa Infant-Parent Mental Health Fellowship through UC Davis. Through this fellowship and Dr. Fahey's extensive experience with young children and the families, she is certified as an Infant Family Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist (IFECMHS) in California through the California Center for Infant-Family and Early Childhood Mental Health.
In addition, she has specialized training in treating anxiety disorders using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). She is also trained in trauma-focused interventions, including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for adults and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) for children. Additionally, she has received advanced training in Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Behavioral Couples Therapy for Substance Use Disorders, Non-Directive Play Therapy, and Sandtray Therapy.
Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Fahey is deeply involved in academia. As a core faculty member in a doctoral program, she not only teaches a variety of courses but also chairs dissertations, contributes to program development, and serves on committees such as the Alliant Union. Actively engaged in research since 2012, Dr. Fahey has been part of multiple research teams published in international journals, including the International Journal of Exercise Science. Her passion for global health led her to Vietnam, where she collaborated on studying the impact of health behavior change on parasitic disease rates in remote villages while also building biosand water filters.
